Informal Markets: Lifting the veil

For one project I got together with 2 other students to do a documentary film on the government of Peru. We had to select one particular topic, and we chose to research into the informal markets in Lima. I was the main person who conducted the research, above in the video you can see what we discovered. What relationship does the government and informal markets really have?
Research:
Our main focus for researching into this documentary was the economy behind the informal markets. As a class we read a book called, "Naked Economics", where we learned the basics on global economy and its concepts. To apply our knowledge, we researched countless hours into the economy within informal markets.
We found several laws and ordinances that related with informal markets and came to a surprise for us. It was discovered that informal markets are illegal, yet the government does not take action towards shutting them down from the streets. Before however, in some locations the government would take drastic measures in demolishing the markets in the streets. Police officers would go down with bulldozers and demolish stands.
Take a look at our film and discover more on the relationship of the government with the informal markets in Lima

Filming:
It took weeks to film and edit everything. It was rather exhausting since we had to go to all kinds of informal market sights. From places like Santa Anita and the Municipality of La Molina, we went all across Lima to truly uncover the veil of the true relationship of the government with informal markets. Honestly, it was an adventure getting all the film, and we had a lot of fun journeying with our camera.
The difficulties came when we had to learn different types of shots and angles. Which shots were purposeful and how? That was what we had to discover. This partnered up with editing techniques that helped make the film look clean and polished.
